THE ANTIOXIDANTS
Antioxidants are believed to help protect our cells against free radicals. Free radicals are molecules produced in the body when it breaks down food or when you are exposed to environmental contamination, radiation, tobacco smoke and also during exercise.
LUTEIN
Leafy green vegetables, some fruit, corn and egg yolks.
BETA CAROTENE
Found in fruit and vegetables that are orange, such as sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin and apricots. They can also be found in spinach and dried herbs such as basil.
SELENIUM
Brazil nuts, shellfish, liver, fish and bran are some of the top foods.
LYCOPENE
Found in tomatoes (any variety of them), watermelon, papaya, liver and dried parsley and basil.
VITAMIN E
Almonds, many oils, broccoli and nuts.
VITAMIN A
Liver, sweet potatoes, carrots, milk, egg yolks and mozzarella cheese.
VITAMIN C
Fruit and vegetables, cereals, beef, poultry and fish.
